LOGAN Magazine....a place for people to find hope

This is LOGAN. She is a designer and model, and business woman. At 16 years old she knew what she wanted to do with her life....then she had a traumatic turn of events. She had a heart attack. Logan's life changed, by leaps and bounds, but her goals did not. She still wanted to be designing things and in the fashion world. Through hard work and perserverance, she has made it!!!

Her bucket list if full of ideas and things she wants to accomplish....Way to go Logan, you and your magazine, just like Oprah, are amazing! In fact, I see a few similarities.

How much does ENDING polio cost?

The END POLIO NOW campaign is getting closer to it's final GOAL.... TOTAL eradication of this horrible disease. Thanks to the 34,000 Rotary Clubs all over the world and 1.2 million Rotary members for their efforts with fundraising. Without the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (click here to see the video), and their 200 Million dollar challenge to Rotary, we might not be THIS CLOSE to ending polio.

BUT, we are THIS CLOSE to ending it and we are very excited that only 200 new cases were reported this past year. Only 1 of those was in India. This is great news.  Pakistan, Afganistan, India and Nigeria.....something Rotarians call PAIN. These are the only 4 countires left with live cases of polio. Rotarians everywhere are being asked to tell the ROTARY story of where we have come from and how we are helping to fight to save lives. Click on the links in this story to see more info.

We hope you will help us in our part to END POLIO NOW, as we embark on our NEW, Coup de Cascades Bicycle Race. It is a 414 mile race around the Cascade Mountains here in Washington State, to raise money and awareness of polio and all ROTARY has done to help in the fight to win. Your donations and your efforts will help. This is the 1st year and we hope to raise $25,000.00 with the help of sponsors and riders. We plan to make the Coup de Cascades an annual race that will continue to help people everywhere. We hope someday this race will be a RAAM qualifier?? , and for more people to be able to ride in it, and more visibility, so we can help MORE people. 21st annual AWARDS BANQUET - Monday June 13th 2011 - We Celebrated!!

The Redmond Rousers ROTARY Club celebrated with style!!! We turned 21 this month and had a wonderful AWARDS ceremony and dinner at MATT's ROTISSERIE, in Redmond Town Center on Monday, June 13th at 5:30 - 8:30pm. The Dinner at Matt's was AWESOME. Salmon or Chicken was the options and it melted in our mouths. 30 people in all were there to see Community Service Chairperson, Deana Hale get the Rotarian of the Year award from our Club..... Kelly Kyle, current president and District 5030 current Rotarian of the year 2011 pinned Deana, while she cried. It was a special moment for us all. Deana was so surprised. She joined the Rowdy Rousers this past year in Aug of 2010. She has been a very intrical part of this clubs success. She really deserves this recognition. Also, Kelly told "her personal story" and took us on the road of her 13 year ROTARY career. She gave district updates and told us some great info about POLIO.

Our Keynote Speaker was Mike Margolies, author of "The Athlete in You". He can be found at the Mental-Game.com  Mike had great insight about preparing for life and all it offers. Thanks to him, a book will be donated to the HOPELINK Eastside library, in his name. THANKS Mike you ROCK!

Deana Hale, Rotarian of the Year 2010-2011, in the Redmond Rousers Rotary club

ROTARIAN OF THE YEAR, in our Club is DEANA HALE. Deana works for Edward Jones and has worked for many years to help people. She is an asset to every community she has ever worked in. Cudos to Deana for making Redmond a great place to do Service Above Self......for our Redmond Rousers Rotary club members and all who live here. Deana volunteers as the Community Service Chair and co-ordinates our dinners for the club.
