New Orleans - Rotary Style 2011

One of the great Rotary traditions is the annual gathering of 20,000 - 25,000 people for a Rotary International Convention every year. This year we met this young ROTARACT, student in the beautiful southern city of New Orleans, Louisiana, or better known as NOLA. Gordon & I went to see new people, new places and to be reminded of our "Service Above Self" motto from Rotary. The year end Celebration parties are grand too, and there were many of those. My VP position with the ITHF = International Travel & Hosting Fellowship, was made stronger by the new friendships I made, while working at the booth.

New Fellowship groups were joined and a good time was had by all. Some of my fellowship groups, I joined, while in NOLA this year are:
So, here's to more fellowships, more boating,  more traveling, more living life with FRIENDS.

Peter Buffet, "LIFE is what you make it". A conversation.

Peter Buffet wrote, "LIFE, Is what you make it". Here I am with him, while he was here last week, April 28th, 2011 in Bellevue. Peter was the guest speaker for the Bellevue College luncheon. I was invited by my friend and Rotarian Cisco Marlparta-Smith, from the Tukwila Rotary Club, to attend the fundraising luncheon at the Meydenbauer Center, in downtown Bellevue. Cisco currently sits on the board for Bellevue College and was a table captain and host for the day. I just recieved my Thank You card from Bellevue College saying they raised over $315,000.00 Thousand dollars. Cudos to Peter, he was very approachable, and quite charming. Thanks for the Photo.

But having Peter Buffet, son of the famous money mogul, Warren Buffet, was no small order. Peter, is a world class musician, raised with pride and priveledge. He has a soft spot in his heart for education and a soul for music that stirs other SOULS! His music score for the FIRE DANCE scene, in Dances with Wolves, is one of his favorite pieces. We were treated to a wonderful concert and delightful afternoon. I'm certainly glad I stuck around for a picture, and a chat after his preformance. Thank You Peter, for sharing your talents and musical soul for us...it was AWESOME! Your book, LIFE is what you make it, is WONDERFUL too.

REK - Rotary Embraces Kids, at Redmond Rousers Rotary, in Redmond, Wa.

Each club President in our 5030 District was asked by Governor John Matthews to produce a 1 minute video. Here is our video from the Redmond Rousers. Scott Bell, one of our AWESOME new members, was in charge of the production and all the great video moments you see here. Pictures were provided by President Kelly Kyle and all Rousers played themselves, in the clips. No animals or children were harmed during the filming...LOL! All coats were taken home as well as all the food eaten up! YUM!

We love our kids in Redmond and love to celebrate good times together. This year will be bigger and better than ever...please think about contributions to our Foundation to help KIDS, as we move towards another holiday season..with REK, and Rotary Embraces Kids. Thanks!
